To say that the Tesla Cybertruck generated some strong reactions would be an understatement. No sooner had Team Elon’s latest creation rolled on stage than the internet started to break like a pair of bulletproof windows. Impressions ranged from shock, disgust, intrigue, and all of the above, cutting to the core of enthusiasts’ emotions as they tried to make sense of this bizarre vehicle.

As the presentation wrapped and we hopped in Cybertruck to take our first ride, meme lords everywhere got to work. In the hours and days that followed, a flood of loltastic content hit the interwebs. While not every Cybertruck meme was exactly positive, it seems memification indicates something’s impact on society. In that regard, we have to imagine Meme Master Musk scrolled through his Twitter timeline with glee, relishing the focus Cybertruck brought to his brand. We did our fair share of scrolling (and creating) ourselves—enjoy this roundup of the funniest [...]

The older I get, the more stock I put into the idea of the multiverse. It’s a theory that all things are possible, given a (possibly) infinite number of parallel universes. With enough reflection all of us find ourselves amazed that we’re alive, out of jail, and/or employed. Some things just should not be, and there’s probably an “alterverse” where our luck did, in fact, run out. A place where the obvious happened. Where you didn’t get lucky. Where the inevitable proved to be exactly that.

Case in point: Audi stopped selling its midsize wagon in the U.S. a decade ago. Even though the A6 Avant (Audi calls its wagons Avants) accounts for over 60 percent of all A6 sales worldwide, consumers in America and China seem to hate long-roofed cars. So, all the Avants (including the A4) got yanked.

Americans love SUVs, though, so the Q3, Q5, and Q7 were where it was at. [...]

The announcement of the Tesla Cybertruck no doubt weighs heavily on the minds of those in Detroit—especially with the electrification of their truck lineups almost certainly on the way. We really are fording new waters here. But the Cybertruck probably wouldn’t (have to) exist without the consummate F-150. It is the best-selling vehicle in the history of the world, with more than one being sold every minute on average. It wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Elon Musk and his team are hoping to put a dent in F-150 sales with their newest offering.

Tesla says its newest creation will start at around $50,000 and have a crew cab and a 6.5-foot bed. But given the Cybertruck’s suspension travel and the off-road abilities the Tesla team baked in, we think a Ford F-150 Raptor is probably the best F-150 representative to compare the Cybertruck concept to, given both appear to have a desert-running duty [...]

In a world constrained by regulations, standards, and efficiencies, Lamborghini can only do so much in building sharp, aggressive supercars. In the digital realm, however, there’s no limit to what can be done other than designers’ creativity. Enter the Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo.

It’s Lamborghini’s contribution to the Vision Gran Turismo series, a collection of vehicles dreamt up to be downloaded and driven in Gran Turismo, the popular racing video game. Covers were pulled off a real-world replica of the Lambo V12 Vision GT at the 2019 Gran Turismo Championship World Finals, and it’s surprising that the car didn’t slice the sheet to smithereens as it was pulled back.

That’s because the Lambo V12 Vision GT takes Lamborghini’s angular design language to an entirely new level. Evocative of the Sián hybrid supercar, it’s covered in points and edges, with bodywork stripped to a minimum to enhance [...]

Two new segment-splitting compact crossovers debuted at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show to vie for adventure-minded drivers’ attention (and dollars): The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer and 2020 Mazda CX-30. The Trailblazer revives a Chevrolet nameplate, albeit with much smaller dimensions, while the CX-30 is a brand-new model to slot in the Mazda lineup. Each addresses top crossover selling points of practicality, capability, and style with their own approaches. Which does it better? Let’s compare this diminutive duo to find out.

Design

Despite their similar purposes, the Trailblazer and CX-30 could hardly look more different. Chevrolet borrowed heavily from the bigger Blazer’s design, laying a multitude of creases, angles, and edges across the Trailblazer’s sheetmetal. Black wheel arch cladding suggests rugged capability. The bisected headlights have angry-looking horizontal LED running lights up top, and projector beams below. Buyers can personalize their Trailblazer with a contrast-painted roof, including Zeus Bronze—the [...]
