We’ll soon be able to travel again, so in case you’re planning your first excursion, we have a suggestion: Go to Europe and buy a new Messerschmitt Kabinenroller! A German outfit called Messerschmitt-Werke has a new, slightly-modernized version of everyone’s favorite mid-century motorcycle-adjacent deathtrap, now with modern gasoline and electric power.
The new Messerschmitt is available in two versions, both featuring a fiberglass body over a steel-aluminum honeycomb chassis. The KR-202, shown in the photos, gets a 125-cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine that produces just over 7 hp. With the help of its CVT automatic transmission, the KR-202 will get the two intrepid adults and one child squeezed into its cabin to a top speed of 56 mph. Such performance is a bit off the original KR-200—191cc, 9.9 hp, 67 mph.

In case you hadn’t heard, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is hosting Saturday Night Live May 8. The billionaire cryptocurrency peddler and electric car boundary pusher has riled up some big reactions online among SNL fans and his own fans alike—so, whatever you think of Musk’s appearance on the weekly live sketch comedy show, we can all appreciate the unexpected adversarial advertising that broke out during the episode. We’re talking, of course, about Lucid Motors‘ sharply timed ad for the upcoming Air luxury EV—the 500-mile sedan it is hoping can take down Tesla’s Model S.
Lucid must have figured viewership for SNL would be high, given all the buzz surrounding the Tesla CEO’s appearance on it. (Aided by Musk himself, who tweeted out this week in the run-up to the show invitations for sketch ideas, as well as other musings about SNL.) So it trained its advertising dollars for its Tesla competitor on one of [...]
This week, Genesis—the fairly-newly-minted luxury brand from Hyundai—announced it will start selling their wares in Europe starting this summer, and today their social media accounts teased the camouflaged derriere of a wagon version of the G70 sport sedan.
Naturally, we have no hope of getting this car in North America, because SUVs are where the money is. “We have lots of exciting new products coming to the US this year, including the GV70 SUV, new G70, and more,” said a Genesis representative, increasing our adrenaline flow before shattering our dreams with: “I can definitely confirm that the G70 shooting brake will not be coming to the US at this time.”

Unless you’ve been cut off from the internet or spent the previous few years under a large rock, you’re probably aware that ’80s and ’90s-vintage cars are red-hot. These rad-era rides were on the posters on recently minted adults’ walls when they were kids, and those recently minted adults now have the cash to go out and buy the Toyota Supras, Ferrari 355s, and old Mercedes-Benzes they grew up worshipping. The nostalgia can run thick for those who manage to snag their dream ride —perhaps thicker than oil. So it seems fitting that the oil they put in their engines drips with the same hazy nostalgia, right?
Post-pandemic adventurers, control yourselves. Behold, the Rossmӧnster Overland Baja truck camper, one heck of a cool looking off-grid camper that happens to come with a name suitable for shouting from the mountain tops. Cue the Ricola cough drops commercials.
The “Ross” in Rossmӧnster comes from Ross Williamson, the founder of the company and mastermind behind the Baja. Rather than the scary creature that hides in closets (made scarier by umlauts), mӧnster in Rossmӧnster refers to “mӧnster” in the Swedish language, meaning “to design and create artistically, simply, and skillfully,” according to the website.
In 2015, Rossmӧnster Vans started building custom vans out of its shop in Longmont, Colorado, [...]
