We took a trip across the country to Philadelphia for the latest stop on this year’s Hot Wheels Legends Tour. For those unfamiliar, the Legends Tour is a series of car shows around the country welcoming the wildest and wackiest rides each city has to offer. A team of judges is tasked with evaluating the cars and picking the one that’s most representative of the Hot Wheels brand. The official criteria are authenticity (does it look like a Hot Wheels car), creativity (is it already a Hot Wheels car), and garage spirit, which ensures that the winner exemplifies that built-not-bought vibe. The winner of each stop on the tour will be invited to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this November, where one car will be selected to be immortalized in 1:64 scale, die-cast Hot Wheels glory.

We saw some very impressive builds, including a west coast–approved, California-style Ford F100 hot rod and a chopped-up [...]

Kia took the covers off the Seltos small crossover in India today, and it doesn’t look like a baby Sportage. The new model features an unusual design, but all the tech you’d expect from Kia.

The Kia Seltos strongly resembles the SP concept it is based on. It dons split-level lights up front, with the grille separating the full LED headlights from the LED daytime running lights. The grille features the familiar tiger nose design we see on other products from Kia. In the rear, you’ll see lots of body cladding and chunky LED taillights. The Kia Seltos is available with 16-, 17-, or 18-inch crystal cut alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, look for a 10.25-inch touchscreen with split screen functionality. It also offers live information about traffic, weather, and points of interest. Complementing this central screen is an available 8-inch head-up display projected onto the driver’s windshield.

Ford today finally dropped the bomb we’ve all been waiting for since the new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 was announced in January: its output figures. In fact, that’s all the release said. Here it is in its entirety:

“Venomous strike: The all-new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will produce 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful street-legal Ford ever—with the most power- and torque-dense supercharged production V-8 engine in the world.

Enough said.”

Indeed. The original line at the car’s debut—where nearly every other detail was released—was that the engine would make “at least 700 horsepower,” as the company said it was attempting to wring every last pony from the 5.2-liter supercharged V-8. But we assumed that meant 710, maybe 725 if we were lucky. It seems Ford was sandbagging. The announcement puts the GT500 43 horsepower up on the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, but [...]

Update June 18, 2019: Aston Martin has officially given the AM-RB 003 the Valhalla name.

Aston Martin chose the Geneva motor show this year to reveal its latest mid-engine hypercar concept, the AM-RB 003. But like the AM-RB 001 that became the Valkyrie, we fully expect the AM-RB 003 to get a more traditional name by the time it goes on sale. So far, Aston Martin has yet to officially announce what the production AM-RB 003 will be called, but from the sound of it, the British automaker plans to stick with a name also borrowed from Norse mythology.

Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer strongly hinted at a possible name for the AM-RB 003 even though he didn’t officially confirm anything. “Valhalla is a name we have registered in our naming book,” said Palmer. It doesn’t appear that Aston Martin has trademarked the name in the U.S. yet, but that [...]

“What car should I buy?” It’s a question consumers ask themselves every day, but what would Detroit editor Alisa Priddle drive? Keep reading for the answer, and see other editors’ picks here.

I’m mad that automakers aren’t making as many sedans any more. My choices are limited, and that makes me angry.

Ideally, I want a small car that looks luscious, has a manual transmission, lets me take the top off, and is affordable. And I am stymied.

I love Lincoln’s styling these days, but Ford has all but gotten out of the sedan business. FCA has nothing for me short of a muscle car. GM is also cutting back on its sedan offerings, but I’m intrigued by Cadillac’s new CT4 and CT5, which come out this fall with softer lines and the long hood of a rear-driver.
