It’s Ram vs. Ford vs. Chevy all over again, diesel-style. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel bursts back onto the full-size diesel truck scene with some impressive-on-paper numbers. Those who go for Ram’s diesel truck will get higher torque and a higher towing capacity compared to any of its rivals, but that’s not the full story.

Ram was first with a non-heavy-duty diesel truck, and we liked it so much that, thanks in large part to that powerplant, the 1500 became our 2014 Truck of the Year. Now Ram’s got competition. Ford makes a diesel variant of its best-selling F-150, and the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will offer a diesel, too. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel packs a built-in-Italy 260-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 under its enormous hood, with 480 lb-ft of torque routed through an eight-speed automatic. That compares well to Ford’s 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 with 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, routed through a [...]

“What SUV should I buy?” It’s a question consumers ask themselves every day, but what would associate online editor Collin Woodard drive? Keep reading for the answer, and see other editors’ picks here.

When my wife and I bought our 2008 Subaru Forester, we chose it because we needed something affordable, reliable, practical, and versatile. There’s also no beating its fantastic visibility. It was the kind of car we could drive daily but also take camping without having to worry about getting stuck in a little mud or sand. But if we were to buy a new SUV today, we’d probably skip the 2019 Forester and go for the Crosstrek instead.

More about Collin: I’m 30 and married with one dog and no kids, and I enjoy camping any time I get a vacation or long weekend.

At 6-foot-3 and 244 pounds, Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis wanted a comfortable daily driver, and he found one in the 2018 BMW 750i.

“I love it because of the power, the mobility. It’s a big car that handles really, really well, and it’s crazy fast,” Davis tells MotorTrend. “I was looking for a car that can fit my kids comfortably. You can drive it every day, you can get around in and out of the city, an everyday car that can be used also for special events or just for your leisure. It’s just an amazing car all around.”

Things to consider up front about the 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce Jota LP770-4, known colloquially as the SVJ: The 6.5-liter V-12 makes 760 naturally aspirated horsepower and 531 lb of torque. This frenzied, astonishingly angry bull has all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, active aero, active aero vectoring, gooey Pirelli Trofeo R tires, and several square meters of carbon-fiber parts. Also, it was painted a stunning shade of matte green. Not sure that makes the SVJ quicker, but who knows? All the gory details of the SVJ are in our First Drive, but just know that the SVJ is the Nürburgring Nordschleife production car lap record holder, taking the crown from the Porsche GT2 RS.

In 2016 we tested the then-new 740-hp, 509-lb-ft Aventador SV, which I called Lamborghini’s bloodiest axe. (The SVJ is bloodier, rest easy.) That particular monster weighed 3,900 pounds. The SVJ is heavier, by 2 pounds (3,902). The SV hit 60 mph in [...]

“Adventure.” That’s what I decided I’d spend a year seeking with the 2019 Hyundai Kona. Two months in, how much adventure have I found? About 629 miles worth. So not much. My daily commute isn’t all that exciting.

That is, however, enough that we’re past the break-in period, which means we’ve finally taken the Kona to the test track. So in lieu of real excursions into the unknown, we at least have objective data to act as a prelude for excitement to come. Zero to 60 mph takes all of 6.6 seconds, which is flying compared to my previous long-termer, a 2017 Jeep Renegade (9.0 seconds).
