Jeep is offering a Launch Edition of the Gladiator pickup with special cosmetic touches, but you’ll have to act quickly to get one. Pre-orders open for one day in April, and Jeep is only making 4,190 copies for the U.S.

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Launch Edition is based on the Rubicon, but it features unique 17-inch gloss black aluminum wheels wrapped with 33-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. On the tailgate, you’ll find a “One of 4,190” badge. The number references the 419 area code of Toledo, Ohio, where the Gladiator is assembled alongside the Wrangler.

Available exterior colors include Black, Bright White, Billet Silver Metallic, Firecracker Red, and Granite Crystal Metallic. All models come with a body-color hard top and fender flares. Inside, the truck sports black leather seats with red stitching. Monaco silver-painted touches complete the look.

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator goes on sale later this year with a starting price of $35,040, the automaker announced today. Fuel economy numbers have also been revealed for the V-6, and they’re in line with other similarly equipped midsize trucks.

The Gladiator has a much higher starting price than rivals, but it comes standard with a V-6 engine and four-wheel drive. The Sport S trim, which gets a few extra goodies over the base model, goes for $38,240. Step up to the Overland model, priced from $41,890, and you’ll receive power door locks, two-piece fender flares with body color insert, auto headlamps, side steps, upgraded tires, and other features. Rubicon models cost $45,040 and receive beefy 33-inch tires, upgraded cloth seats, and a Rock-Trac 4×4 system with heavy-duty axles and locking differentials.

The Gladiator launches with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine making 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. When paired to the standard six-speed [...]

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is many things—the latest in a revitalized midsize pickup segment, the first pickup from Jeep since the early ’90s, and the only convertible truck on the market. But the one thing it isn’t, according to those responsible for creating it, is a Jeep Wrangler with a bed bolted to the back.

Given the amount of design and engineering work that went into creating the 2020 Gladiator, I get it. But the Wrangler is the MotorTrend 2019 SUV of the Year, so I don’t think being a Wrangler with a bed is really such a bad thing.

Just as much separates the Gladiator from the Wrangler as what connects it. About half of the Gladiator’s parts are shared with the Wrangler—including doors, front fenders, the front half of the cabin, its standard 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6, and the soon-to-arrive 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The Gladiator’s standard [...]

Earlier this month, Hyundai showed off the first official images of the redesigned Sonata. Not only is it longer, lower, and wider than before, it’s also much better looking. While its predecessor’s design can best be described as inoffensive or anonymous, the 2020 Sonata really stands out. Some people will love it, and others will hate it, but at least they’ll notice it. After taking a closer look at the new Sonata during a prototype drive last week, we think these are the six coolest features that we’ve seen so far.

Strong Character Line

The Sonata’s taillights may look like they were lifted straight from the current Honda Civic, but we’re big fans of the character line that visually connects them to the headlights. That’s partly because it’s a nod to Hyundai’s earlier Le Fil Rouge concept, but we also appreciate the way it helps stretch the proportions [...]

After getting up close and personal with the 2020 Hyundai Sonata at the automaker’s Namyang Research and Development facility just outside of Seoul, Korea, we were allowed to drive a couple early prototypes.

We got behind the wheel of what Hyundai calls P1 prototypes, which represent the earliest stage of the four prototypes (P1, P1, M1, and M2) built ahead of serial production. Although M1 and M2 vehicles are made using parts from final production tooling and are visually indistinguishable from retail units, P1s are largely hand built, and still contain exterior and interior parts that may be mismatched in color and/or texture, or in some case, completely smooth and unpainted. Also still in development at the P1 stage are the tires. At the design studio, the fancier 1.6T-equipped Sonata we were shown was wearing Hankook Ventus V12 Zero2 summer tires (in size 245/40/ZR19), while the gray 2.5-liter Sonata was shod in 235/45/R18 Pirelli PZero [...]
