Last month, Kia announced pricing on its much-anticipated Telluride crossover. It may not be a body-on-frame SUV, but it has a cool design, a nice interior, and third-row seating, which should make it popular with families. Add in Kia’s excellent bumper-to-bumper warranty and its even better powertrain warranty, and we have a feeling the Telluride will be a big hit. But now that Kia’s configurator is online, we have a better idea of what it will cost to add various options.

As you can see, your first choice is which trim level you want. And regardless of which version you choose, all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option. So even though a front-wheel-drive Telluride LX starts at $32,735 with destination, a top-trim SX model will set you back $44,535 when paired with all-wheel drive.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred trim, it’s time [...]

The Geneva Motor Show is full of delightfully strange cars from automakers you’ve never heard of, but even well-known names show some wild sheetmetal. We walked the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to bring you a few of our favorite weird and wonderful show cars, plus a handful of Mansory’s latest.

Check out our Forbidden Fruit story here, and enjoy the Geneva auto show’s weird side, below.

Sbarro Renner

Every year, one of our favorite stands in Geneva is this one, where disciples of Franco Sbarro’s Espera Sbarro automotive design school in Montbéliard, France, display their latest quickly conceived and built vehicles. Our favorite this year is this gorgeous reinterpretation of the famous Porsche 904 race car. Like the original, this one is powered by a mid-mounted flat-four engine, but in this case it’s a Subaru 2.5-liter turbo. That vulnerable bit of milled aluminum at risk of striking a [...]

In today’s market, it seems like an automaker can never have too many crossovers. Mazda is bringing out a new crossover that will slot between the CX-3 and CX-5. The new model, dubbed the CX-30, straddles these two crossovers in terms of size, and it also ventures upmarket into the semi-premium space. Did Mazda do enough to make this tweener stand out from its more established siblings? Read on to find out.

The new crossover takes Mazda’s existing Kodo design language and makes it more dramatic. It features a wide grille that connects directly to the very thin, drawn-out headlights. To keep the spotlight on the large grille, the lower valence area is simplified. The LED turn signals have a unique light-up signature that starts at full power and gradually winds down, which Mazda says gives the effect of a live, pulsating creature.

Earlier this week, Honda announced an accelerated electrification strategy in Europe. Instead of electrified vehicles making up two-thirds of sales by 2025, the goal for Europe is now 100 percent. Honda hasn’t said whether or not its timeline for electrification in the U.S. has changed, but either way, it seems likely that one car is already destined to go hybrid—the next-generation Civic Type R.

Speaking to PistonHeads at this year’s Geneva motor show, Kohei Hitomi, project manager for the E prototype, said Honda had briefly considered making the next Civic Type R fully electric. That idea’s been scrapped, though, because the Type R is “about handling, operation, and drivability. We don’t think it’s as simple as replacing that with electric power. That’s not the right direction for Type R.”

Based on what he said next, it sounds like the focus has shifted to building a hybrid Civic Type [...]

The picture I’ve seen of the very first Porsche booth at the 1949 Geneva motor show clearly shows Ferry Porsche (Ferdinand’s son) as well as the former’s sister, Louise Porsche. Louise wound up marrying Porsche’s lawyer and business partner, Anton Piëch. You may have heard of one of their sons—Ferdinand, the genius engineer behind things as varied as the Porsche 917, Audi Quattro, the Mercedes five-cylinder inline diesel engine, and the Bugatti Veyron. Famously, Ferdinand has 10 (yes, 10) children, including one named Anton (first kid from second wife), who goes by Toni. Together with a former lithographer named Rae Stark, he has started a new company called Piëch Automotive.

Swiss-based Piëch Automotive has a handsome car on display at this year’s Geneva show, called the Mark Zero. As it sits, the car is an all-electric, all-wheel-drive grand tourer with 603 hp from three 201-hp motors—one on the [...]
