Introduced as an upscale version of the Wagoneer, the Grand Wagoneer entered the market in 1984 and saw a solid run before Jeep ended production in 1991. Already making big waves before its arrival this summer, the full-size luxury three-row SUV is officially back and grander than ever. Jeep’s new flagship SUV, the largest vehicle in the lineup, will be powered by a healthy V-8, the only powertrain option—and we finally have a peek into the engine’s EPA-estimated fuel economy.
Under the hood of the all-new Jeep Grand Wagoneer sits a 6.4-liter V-8 producing 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque that pairs with an eight-speed automatic. The Grand Wagoneer can be had with four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. The 4WD Grand Wagoneer has an EPA-rated 13/18/15 mpg city/highway/combined, whereas the RWD configuration offers about the same fuel economy (albeit better on the highway) at 13/19/15 mpg.

Following the end of an eleven year exclusive partnership with Ford in January, rally driver and drifting master Ken Block listed a handful of his souped-up Fords for sale. Among them, a 1986 Ford RS200, aka the world-famous hoonigan’s favorite car of all time. Block is now parting ways with the star of Climbkhana 2, the menacing and insanely fast 1977 Ford F-150 Hoonitruck.
The widebody F-150 pickup truck premiered in Gymkhana 10, where the tire slayer wreaked havoc through Route 66 in Shamrock, Texas. He topped off his tire-slaying tour by drifting around a drove of artfully staged rusted vintage cars. But the career highlight of this custom Ford F-150 came when it conquered the allegedly most dangerous road in China, the Tianmen Shan Big Gate Road located within Tianmen Mountain National Park.
Jeep owners who have reported their windshields getting a bit chippy over the course of their ownership experience may now finally have an option that will keep their glass intact. Jeep has recently announced that its dealers can now order a Gorilla Glass windshield for modern Wrangler SUVs and Gladiator pickups.
In case you aren’t familiar, Gorilla Glass is essentially glass that’s been treated with a chemical compound that makes it more resistant to chips and scratches. It’s designed to be thin and lightweight, which is why it’s used in so many smartphone displays. The special glass is produced by a company called Corning, and is made by taking regular glass and giving it a hot potassium salt bath that’s then complemented by a chemical process known as ion exchange.
In the case of the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, the models’ newly available windshield option consists of a thin Gorilla Glass inner ply and a [...]
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning caught our attention for two reasons: it is an electric full-size pickup, and it’s set to wear a starting price of $41,669 when it goes on sale in May 2022.
Weeks after the electric Lightning was unveiled to the public, people are still talking about it, thanks to its relatively affordable pricing and solid performance. In fact, the Lightning is set to take the title as the quickest F-150 model thanks to its estimated 4.4-second 0–60-mph time. Credit the truck’s two electric motors, which provide 563 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque. The Lightning’s well as its extended-range battery pack, meanwhile, offers an estimated driving range of 300 miles on a single charge.
How, then, did Ford manage to make the Lightning so affordable?
The F-150 Lightning’s Been a Long Time ComingWe were surprised to learn that Ford has long wanted to do an electric truck but needed a [...]
On June 10, 2021, Elon Musk formally kicked off deliveries of the 1,020-hp Tesla Model S Plaid. Approximately two days later, on June 12, Unplugged Performance debuted its race-prepped Model S Plaid that’s set to compete at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (with our resident pro racing driver, Randy Pobst, behind the wheel). You might remember that at last year’s race Pobst had a little moment and unexpectedly flew the Unplugged Performance Model 3 off the course. In a feat of determination, the Unplugged Performance team rebuilt the car overnight, and Pobst placed second in the exhibition class—and in a car with only half its horsepower!
What Is It?Unplugged Performance’s Plaid racecar uses the stock powertrain from the top-line Model S. The interior is almost completely stripped out. After ditching items such as the car’s airbags, a center console, and door panels, Unplugged Performance fit this tri-motor Tesla with a roll cage and [...]
