If you’re an environmentally conscious one-percenter, driving an electric car simply isn’t enough. You need to embrace green living in every aspect of your affluent lifestyle, and that includes your ultra-posh boat. Enter Silent-Yachts, an Austrian manufacturer of premium solar-powered luxury watercraft that has just partnered with Volkswagen Group to incorporate the auto giant’s MEB modular electric drive platform into its next super-yacht.

Even though Silent-Yachts will develop the solar electric catamaran based around the MEB electric drive bits, the yacht itself will be designed by Cupra, the performance marque that spun off of Spanish VW Group brand Seat.

The MEB electric platform was designed for electric cars such as the upcoming Volkswagen ID4 SUV, ID Buzz microbus tribute concept, and many other [...]

In September, we compared the hottest performing SUVs from BMW, Maserati, Mercedes, and Porsche, the winner of which earned a spot in our 2021 Best Driver’s Car competition. Sadly, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is arriving just a few months too late to market to have joined that competition, so we’ll have to wait another year or so to learn whether it can improve on the fifth-of-five finishing order its Hellcat-powered Jeep cousin achieved in 2018’s Best Driver’s Car SUV play-in. The three-row Durango weighs some 200 pounds more than the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but it makes a touch more power and benefits from three years of development and improvements. To help us place the new Durango SRT Hellcat within the pantheon of über-utes, I ventured to Charlotte, North Carolina, to wring several out on the 14-turn road course at Carolina Motorsports Park.

You’ve never heard of the Mitsubishi Bravo before and we don’t blame you. Half of our staff hasn’t either, but at least we know a thing or two about Kei car (pronounced “kay”). Kei cars are the smallest and most affordable street legal vehicles sold in Japan. They’re regulated by size, displacement and power, have been around since World War II, and still remain popular today.

However, as you might have guessed, they never made it to U.S. shores. Quite frankly, they’re too tiny for the majority of Americans that live by the old saying, “bigger is better”. That doesn’t mean some of us don’t appreciate a good Kei car, truck or van when we see one, which is why we think you’ll be pretty stoked to meet Los Angeles native, Joe Dashtoyan and his 1994 Mitsubishi Bravo Super Exceed.

Most people that drop a lot of money [...]

It’s safe to say that Angel Pena, owner of this supercharged 2008 Acura TSX, has a “type.” Having been enamored with Acura’s entry-level sedan ever since it was first introduced, he knew right away he’d get his hands on one, and eventually, he did just that. Today, a decade later, he’s moved on to his second TSX chassis and managed to find a picture-perfect combination of what so many others often strive for: an almost completely street-legal build that’s tame enough for the street yet can hold its own on the track.

Right Car, Wrong Color

That initial purchase, a 2005 Carbon Grey version of the TSX about a decade ago, proved to be everything he imagined, though it was simply the wrong color. Angel adds, “My dream was always to own a white TSX. This year I found the perfect shell: 2008 model in white with a black interior.” The chase for that [...]

Tatiana Calderón is probably the fastest woman on the planet right now, and the 27-year-old Columbian’s racing career has been punctuated by a number of firsts. She was the first woman to compete in both Japanese Super Formula and Formula 2, and was part of the first all-female LMP2 driver lineup in Le Mans history earlier this year. She’s also the first woman Alfa Romeo has ever signed as a test driver for their Formula 1 team, and that’s where she’s headed.

“I want to be a full time Formula 1 driver, that’s my dream. It’s why I wake up in the morning,” Calderón told MotorTrend during a virtual roundtable event hosted by Alfa Romeo Racing.

But getting a seat at the pinnacle of motorsport is a herculean task for even the most experienced and most fortunate (male) drivers.F1 is by far and away the most expensive, most exclusive, and most difficult form of racing [...]
