We know about letting sleeping dogs lie, but we’d struggle to give such courtesy to the Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept. Can you blame us? After all, this modified Jeep pickup looks ready for adventure, not naps. Besides, it’d need to sit still long enough to snooze in the first place, and parking this rig anywhere but out there seems like a crime.
Credit the truck’s numerous upgrades, the most notable of which are its [...]
MotorTrend has teamed up with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and driver Tyler Reddick to be the lead sponsor on the team’s No. 8 Chevrolet ZL1 Camaro! Of course, that means that the car had to be appropriately wrapped in all of its MotorTrend glory before the big Xfinity 500 Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia (check out the time-lapse video of the process below!).

The design started with a rendering that was approved by all the parties and then given to the design team at RCR’s Graphics Center so they could turn the one-dimensional [...]
Earlier this week, we published our first test of the 702-hp Ram 1500 TRX, and let’s just say our corporate gas cards only just cooled off from our frantic swiping at local pumps. While our test focuses on the TRX’s primary purpose—exercising its huge engine over varied terrain at speed while looking bad-ass—you can probably guess that we needed to frequently stop and refuel the thing.
And look, we know that fuel economy doesn’t really matter in when it comes to a super-truck like the TRX. When you have a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 under the hood and a capable off-road suspension under the body, how many miles you’re getting to the gallon is almost definitely among the last things on your mind. Topics such as where the nearest dunes are located, or what kind of sweet jumps you can do are surely rattling around louder in your brain bin. But hilariously bad fuel economy [...]
Being a segment leader is hard work, especially in a segment as hot as subcompact SUVs, which continues to grow rapidly. Subaru already has a solid foundation to stay on top, and now, the Forester’s 2.5-liter flat-four engine is finding its way under the Crosstrek’s hood in Sport and Limited trims. Will a more powerful engine be enough to keep this crossover relevant and fend off new rivals? We got a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport in to find out.
Does the Subaru Crosstrek Drive Better with More Power? We’ve been begging Subaru for a more powerful Crosstrek since it made its debut as a 2013 model. Seven years later, the automaker finally obliged. So does the 2.5-liter’s 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque make a noticeable difference over the base 2.0-liter’s 152 hp and 145 lb-ft? Oh yeah. Passing, merging, and climbing steep inclines are a cinch; the Crosstrek moves promptly thanks to the [...]
The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen only recently saw a meaningful evolution. For decades, its roots as a military vehicle were barely disguised, but in America, we only saw a small sliver of the G-Wagen’s potential. Abroad, do-work short-wheelbase models roamed the European countryside, much as contractor-grade pickups do here. And yes, there were even convertible versions, which offered the charming possible combination of austere interior fittings, open-air motoring, and a clattery diesel—and uncompromised off-road prowess, of course.
Enter Expedition Motor Company, which sources G-Wagens such as the one above, and subjects these Benzes to the sort of intense restoration and modification regimen we’ve seen Land Rovers and Land Cruisers put through. This particular G-Wagen, a 1991 250GD “Wolf,” is one of Expedition Motor Co.’s creations that’s currently available, rocking a five-cylinder diesel engine and a spate of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades.
