Even the least expensive Aston Martin—the Vantage—starts at well over six figures. What’s an Aston Martin fan not that flush to do? Well, there’s always the used car market. Or perhaps the nearly $75,000 AMR-C01 racing simulator.

Aston worked with Curv Racing Simulators to build what it calls the “ultimate in luxury Esports experiences.” Consider it the Aston Martin Valkyrie of simulators. It just so happens the seating position of the AMR-C01 happens to mirror that of the Valkyrie’s, too.

As its high price suggests, Aston’s racing simulator is a truly high-end product that’s built around a race-car-like carbon-fiber monocoque. To ensure [...]

No one would blame you for thinking adding a diesel engine to a vehicle’s lineup is a bad idea these days—not after VW’s emissions-cheating scandal. Although doing so really isn’t a great idea for passenger cars given the additional costs and lack of consumer appetite, it remains an excellent idea for trucks and their work-centric missions that often take them off pavement. For their part, Jeep executives like to say the second question they heard after, “Will you make a Jeep truck?” was, “Will it have a diesel?” The 2019 launch of the Jeep Gladiator answered the former in the affirmative, and the EcoDiesel variant does the same for the latter. And it’s a better truck for it.

Diesel Torque FTW

The formula is exactly what you expect it to be: Jeep has installed the corporate 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V-6 available in the Wrangler and Ram 1500 in the Gladiator’s engine bay, along with a [...]

FCA’s merger with France’s PSA hasn’t changed its grand plans for a complete revamp of Maserati. The 630-hp, mid-engine MC20 supercar is the first of an avalanche of new or redesigned Maserati models scheduled to be unveiled by 2025. While the MC20 is set to serve as the brand’s halo (with a drop-top Spider version joining the coupe in 2022), Maserati insiders hope the brand’s money-maker will be a new mid-size crossover SUV called the Grecale, which will share a lot of hardware with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

The Grecale, which in true Maserati tradition is named after a wind (in this case, a north-easterly that blows across the Italian peninsula), launches in 2021 and is key to a 40 percent increase in total Maserati SUV sales by 2025, the brand’s global product planning and marketing chief Francesco Tonon said. The Grecale will be joined in 2023 or 2024 by a completely redesigned Levante, and [...]

Not content simply launching an all-new EV with more than 1,000 horsepower and expected EPA range of more than 500 miles, the mad geniuses at Lucid Motors are cooking up a new SUV, because of course they are, and today’s market dictates they offer one. It’s called the Lucid Gravity.

Little official information is available at this point beyond these two key items: First, the Gravity looks wider and will of course be much taller than the Lucid Air sedan, but it will sit on the same stretched-wheelbase skateboard platform so the SUV/CUV’s length should be close to identical. (Perhaps somebody whispered in our ear that the Gravity is less than an inch (15 mm) longer than the Air—who’s to say?) Second, VP of Design Derek Jenkins is an off-roading enthusiast who has built a hot-rod VW-powered dune buggy, so it’s safe to assume the Gravity will have some serious off-road chops.

Car shoppers won’t bat an eye shelling out $50,000-plus for a luxury SUV. But for some reason, the idea of paying the same amount for a minivan can be a hard pill to swallow. Once loaded up with options, today’s minivans can easily get up to $50K or more—and believe it or not, they sell. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica’s new Pinnacle trim level is the latest to push the minivan pricing envelope with its starting price just under $55,000.

The Pinnacle slots above the previous range-topper, the already classy Limited trim, and is priced accordingly at $54,885. For comparison, the most expensive Honda Odyssey, the 2021 Odyssey Elite, starts at $48,940. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet for the all-hybrid 2021 Toyota Sienna lineup, but the outgoing 2020 Sienna Limited Premium AWD started at $50,590.

For the Pinnacle’s nearly $55K sticker price you get standard all-wheel drive (a new-for-2021 [...]
