Everyone remembers them, you probably had one growing up (possibly still do)—a Lamborghini Countach poster circa the 1980s. The Countach is a dream car unlike any other, adorning more walls and inspiring generations of automotive enthusiasts all over the world. But everyone knows it’s a piece of crap. Never meet your heroes, kids, you’re often disappointed. Is that always the case? The Top Gear America hosts beg to differ and the producers aren’t going to make it easy on them, so they’re back at Thunderhill Raceway Park to find out if dream cars are more than just poster art.

We got our first look at the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 back in July of 2019, and even at that early date, GM confirmed that the C8 would get factory-built right-hand-drive (RHD) versions for those associated markets: Australia, Japan, and the U.K. But it’s taken this long for these RHD Corvette C8s to debut, and Japan is—at last—the first market to receive them.

This is the first time a Corvette has had a factory RHD variant, which is great news for consumers in those countries but less great news for the cottage industry of LHD-to-RHD conversion outfits. And also not great for potential buyers in Japan who wanted to own one, since the allocation of 300 units apparently sold out almost immediately after it was announced early last year.

Owners in Japan were invited to watch a special event at Fuji Speedway late last month, which combined a [...]

The arrival of Hyundai’s funky and stylish compact pickup truck is quickly approaching, and we’re eager to get behind the wheel for a test drive. After the all-new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz broke cover this past spring, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finally released fuel economy estimates for it. So, what kind of mpg can you expect from the little Santa Cruz truck?

That depends on which of the first-ever Hyundai pickup truck’s two engine options you choose. The standard powerplant is a 2.5-liter I-4 generating a modest 191 hp and 181 lb-ft. For those buyers wanting more performance from their Santa Cruz, an optional turbocharged 2.5-liter I-4 producing 281 hp and 311 lb-ft is available. An eight-speed automatic transmission is coupled with the base engine, whereas the upgrade comes mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard; however, customers can also opt for the [...]

Volkswagen is introducing an outdoorsy accessory line for the all-new 2022 Taos. The accessories add a rugged look to the compact SUV and are available bundled together in a package or sold separately.

Inspired by the Basecamp line for the Atlas, the package includes custom plastic body cladding, front and rear fender flares with integrated splash guards, and lower side plates. The grille also gets a Basecamp badge. The Basecamp package gives the Taos a more aggressive appearance and creates a cohesive styling upgrade that extends from the nose to the rear.

In addition to the new Basecamp accessory line for Taos models, Volkswagen has a full suite of equipment options that bolster convenience and vehicle protection. Featured gear from the extensive catalog consists of Rubber MuddyBuddy and [...]

The BMW i4 is getting a high-performance sibling, and it goes by the name i4 M50. Underneath the skin, the i4 M50 is much the same vehicle as the run-of-the-mill i4 eDrive40. This means the lesser i4’s interior, 84-kWh battery pack, so-called “Gran Coupe” body style, and updated iDrive infotainment system are all accounted for within the i4 M50. The major difference is just how much more potent the i4 M50 is compared to the i4 eDrive40.

Thanks to its two electric motors (one at each axle), the i4 M50 makes a peak of 536 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque. The i4 eDrive40, for comparison, makes do with 335 horses and 317 lb-ft of torque. BMW claims the i4 M50 sprints to 60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds. For reference, a 2021 BMW M3 Competition ran to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds in our hands.
