Street racing is nothing new, but it may have found an opening of late. As we’ve reported previously, while the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has kept most people inside and cars off the roads, and according to some local news outlets, speeders and street racers have been taking advantage of those extra-empty streets—Atlantans included. They’ve been holding street races and road takeovers with hundreds of spectators, sometimes multiple nights in a row. Authorities are summoning a response.

In an effort to crack down on street racing—and, more specifically, the massive crowds these events tend to attract—the Atlanta City Council recently approved legislation that punishes bystanders, in addition to racing participants. We all know you can be sent to jail and have your license suspended if you’re caught street racing, but now you can face a fine of at least $1,000 and up to six months in jail just for watching street racing spectacles.

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a well-packaged truck that’s extremely capable off the beaten path. It was a welcome addition to the Jeep lineup, and according to JeepGladitorForum.com, a few new trim levels are coming to the Gladiator for the 2021 model year. One forum poster claims to have obtained a leaked dealer bulletin that confirms the truck will get a Willys package and an 80th Anniversary Edition model for the new model year.

Much like the Willys trim level that’s already available on the Wrangler, the Gladiator’s Willys package will come in two levels: the Willys Sport and the Willys (the Willys Sport being the cheaper of the two). All Willys-trimmed Gladiators will get black 17-inch wheels with mud-terrain tires, rock rails from the Rubicon trim, a limited-slip differential, black exterior accents with black Willys stickers, and body-colored fender flares (as opposed to the standard, black plastic ones).

The major difference between the Willys [...]

As Cadillac prepares to unveil its new Lyriq battery-electric crossover SUV and GMC plans to unveil its Hummer EV SUV and pickup, the two brands’ parent company, General Motors, is partnering with EVgo to add 2,700 new fast chargers to EVgo’s charging infrastructure in the United States.

GM and EVgo have identified 40 metropolitan areas across the country in need of better fast-charging infrastructure. EVgo has previously announced it will power its chargers with renewable energy.

“We are moving quickly to bring new EVs to market that customers will love,” GM chief executive officer Mary Barra said in a prepared statement. “We know how important the charging ecosystem is for drivers, one that includes access to convenient and reliable fast charging.”

The first of the new stations will open in early 2021, with each station offering charging for at least four [...]

Jeff Meier’s latest acquisition of the all-time great Lamborghini Miura–by way of a stunning garage find–is a heck of a story, filled with fortunate good luck. But his fascination with Lamborghini’s original supercar runs much deeper.

Meier was born and raised in Cleveland, where he grew up in a large family. His father owned an automotive repair shop, so there were always different cars parked in the driveway. As early as the age of five, Meier developed a curiosity for cars that flourished into a hobby of identifying them when he’d see them driving on the road. The same kid that would shout out “Volkswagen,” “Chevy,” and “Ford” from the backseat when his father pointed at a car would one day become a full-fledged car expert and collector in his own right.

The Lamborghini Miura Bug Bites Hard

Now living in Los Angeles, Meier, a self-described automotive consultant, [...]

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is already a car worthy of the Shelby name, but for those who want a more conspicuous connection to racing legend and entrepreneur Carroll Shelby, Las Vegas-based Shelby American is offering a Carroll Shelby Signature Edition package that turns your stock Mustang GT500 into a GT500SE with more power and an official Shelby CSM number.

Wondering why you’d want Shelby to tune and Shelby-fy a car that’s already a Shelby? The relationship between Ford and Shelby can be a little confusing, so here’s a quick breakdown: Ford licenses the Shelby name for the GT500 and GT350, which were developed 100-percent in-house at Ford. Shelby American is the company that Carroll Shelby founded, and still builds its own cars including continuation-series Cobras and modified Mustangs and F-150s. Shelby American is also the keeper of the official Shelby registry, which documents every Shelby-built vehicle going back to the early ’60s. Because [...]
