It can happen to the best of us. You’re just lounging around one Friday afternoon and think to yourself, “you know what? I think I’ll take the Ferrari F40 for a spin.” As you do. Sadly, for this poor owner, Ferrari Friday was quite literally wrecked. It happened in Queensland, Australia and videos and photos of the crash quickly made the rounds on the internet.

The damage is extensive, and it looks like there isn’t a single body panel that was left intact. According to The Drive, the owner was taking the car on one final shakedown before putting the car up for sale the very next day. Apparently, it was the first time the car had been driven in five years, and old tires are probably part of the reason for the crash. Driving anything on old rubber is a bad [...]

Like any good enthusiast car to come out of Japan, the Subaru WRX has so many variants it takes some real study to get all the permutations down. But if you ask a Subaru nut what the greatest road-going Impreza of all time is, you’re likely to get a humble-sounding model as the answer: 22B. And you’ll likely get that answer very, very quickly.

The reason for the 22B’s hold on Subie fans? A combination of extreme rarity, WRC rally car looks, and hints that it might be even more formidable than Subaru claims. For one, only 424 were built—400 for Japan, 16 for the U.K., five for Australia, and three prototypes. That’s it. And those looks, sure, Subaru has the WRC cred to back them up. The 22B was built to celebrate three consecutive FIA World Championship titles. That earned the economy car the right to pair gold wheels with a huge hood scoop [...]

One of our favorite aspects of the excellent Honda Accord sedan is no more. Honda confirmed to MotorTrend that the Accord’s available six-speed manual transmission has been discontinued, a decision highlighted at the end of Honda’s press materials for its 2021 lineup (which also includes major news for the Civic). In fact, the stick-shift Honda quietly went out of production in December of 2019, but the move went unnoticed because those already-built models are still circulating among dealers.

The Accord has long been associated with the manual transmission, and folks on our side of the business might even go so far as to claim credit for its continued availability—the midsize Honda sedan’s penchant for winning awards is due in no small part to its seeming commitment to driving enthusiasts and an available three-pedal setup. Why? Blend the Accord’s award-worthy-on-its-own renowned reliability, quality, and dynamic excellence with a Honda manual transmission, and you get a low-key [...]

The Ferrari F40 is an incredible vehicle, a refugee from an alternate universe in which Ferrari entered Group B rallying with a fury. Descended from the 288 GTO, it was also one of Enzo Ferrari’s pet projects in his twilight years, one of the final incarnations of his legacy. For the rest of us, it was one of the perfect poster vehicles, offering fascinating and otherworldly shapes and angles from every viewpoint—the perfect thing to lay in bed and contemplate.

Details such as the wing and its little gills, the pop-ups over the glassed-in elements, the NACA ducts in the hood, and the all-business mesh panel housing the absurdly simple taillights. The “F40” logo itself. It’s all outrageous, more an air superiority fighter sans wings than a beautiful Pininfarina road car. And unlike modern supercars, its simple curves and sharp edges can be taken in at a glance—it has one strong form, purposeful and clear.

Right on schedule, the latest 992-generation Porsche 911 variant is the new 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo. Notice we didn’t tack an “S” to the end of that nameplate, though. Yes, if the hair-ripping, face-shredding, world-turning 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is too rich for your blood, the “base” Turbo and Turbo Cabriolet are here to fill the gap between the future 992-series Carrera GTS and the range-topping Turbo S.

Since the 997-generation 911 more or less cemented Porsche’s modern model hierarchy, there are no surprises with the new 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo—but that doesn’t mean you should be any less excited. Compared to the Turbo S, the Turbo is indeed softer, slower, less powerful, less expensive, and overall less capable, but this dour language is a fair bit misleading. The new 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo is absolutely, positively a supercar.
