Good racing films don’t happen very often, and rarely do they receive as much critical acclaim as 2019’s Ford v Ferrari. Propelled by the real-life drama behind Ford’s historic 1-2-3 sweep at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the movie brings the adrenaline and danger of racing in the 1960s to life, carefully weaving that action into a character-driven origin story of the Blue Oval’s most iconic race car: the Ford GT40. Though the film gets a good majority of the facts straight, it presents the viewer with a condensed version of Ford’s road to victory at Le Mans. And even at a bladder-busting two and a half hours, there just wasn’t time to mention the GT40-based road car Ford was considering from the outset of the program. Wait, a GT40-based road car?
That’s exactly what we asked ourselves while flipping through the digital pages of the GT Program book graciously provided by Ford [...]
Update: More apparent trouble with Harbor Freight jack stands, according to the owner of a replacement set for his recalled units, as reported by The Drive. According to the owner, one jack stand failed dramatically at the welded seam under the weight of a Volkswagen Golf (as seen in the Facebook photos below). Harbor Freight told The Drive that the company is investigating the issue. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and update this article if necessary. Please be safe while working under your car. The original article continues below.
The terrifying Harbor Freight recall of jack stands that could fail due to a manufacturing defect is in the news right now, and it is as good a time as any to review the procedures and equipment we’re all using to lift our cars. But first, let’s take a look at the issues facing those particular Harbor Freight jack stands so you have an [...]
The automotive world was treated to a rare look inside the politics of the American auto industry last fall when General Motors filed a racketeering lawsuit against Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) for allegedly bribing UAW officials in a bid to undercut it. But, with the automotive world being a complex place, that was not the only legal action FCA saw this past holiday season: On behalf of the Jeep brand, it won an interim victory in its International Trade Commission infringement case against Mahindra’s Roxor, which we can all agree looks a lot like an old Jeep. This week, the victory was made final, with the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) issuing orders to force Mahindra to stop production and sales of the Roxor as currently designed.
The interim finding issued by the USITC last fall had to be confirmed in order to be enforced; that’s what has happened this week. The new findings support the [...]
We’ve long heard rumors that the 2021 Ford Bronco will get a Getrag-supplied manual transmission. Information on Getrag’s own website, discovered by forums on Bronco6g.com and FullSizeBronco.com, fueled the rumor mill, detailing a new manual transmission that can be equipped with a low-speed crawler gear. Now, new photos released to The Fast Lane Car seem to confirm the transmission will indeed make its way to the upcoming Bronco.
An anonymous source provided the publication with these revealing photos, which show a manual transmission with six speeds and a “C” gear. Presumably, that “C” stands for “crawl.” There are also new photos that give us a closer look at the Bronco’s engine, suspension, and dash setup.

When it comes to styling, the MotorTrend staff generally leans toward the “less is more” side of things. Case in point: The new BMW 4 series. Less grill would do a lot more for the Bimmer coupe’s design. However, if your tastes veer more toward “more is more,” then Liberty Walk has a Toyota Supra body kit for you.
The Japanese aftermarket brand is famous for its widebody kits, and Liberty Walk’s touched on everything from the Lexus LC500 to the Toyota Prius (not kidding). The company’s funky mix of Bosozoku flamboyance and DTM-esque fender flares is bound to split opinions, and its latest endeavor is no different. Check out Liberty Walk’s recently announced styling kit for the A90 Supra. While we’re not entirely opposed to the car’s wider hips, we’re not quite sure the Supra’s shape needed inflating to such incredible proportions.
