Mini is bringing back a stylish special edition that launched way back in 2007. Arriving in dealerships this April, the 2021 Mini Cooper S Convertible Sidewalk Edition receives special wheels, colors, and interior features.
The Sidewalk Edition offers two paint color options: Deep Laguna Metallic and Enigmatic Black Metallic. Both hues are complemented by a special Anthracite soft-top roof. Custom designed two-tone 17-inch wheels finish off the exterior’s look.
Inside, there’s a custom steering wheel and floor mats. Cabin surfaces also feature unique illumination. Sidewalk badging is also strewn about the cabin, including the small convertibles aluminum door sill trim.
Since it’s based off the Cooper S, the Sidewalk Edition receives motivation from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 189 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is standard on the Sidewalk Edition, but an extra $1,500 adds a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to the mix.
[...]The Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible enter the 2021 model year with minimal changes according to the bow-tie brand’s fleet order guide. The most noteworthy change to the model is the addition of standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the line. It joins newly standard wireless charging on higher-end 3LT and 2SS models. Wireless charging was previously limited to the high-performance ZL1 trim.
Technology isn’t the only name in the 2021 Camaro’s game and V-8 SS models equipped with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission and 1LE performance package benefit from a shorter 2.85:1 final-drive ratio relative to last year’s 2.77:1 ratio. (Non-1LE Camaros maintain the longer rear-axle ratio for 2021.) Additionally, Chevy blesses the Camaro LT1 buyers with the option to add the racier RS and Redline Edition packages to the entry-level eight-cylinder Camaro model.
Not all is rosy for the 2021 Camaro, though, and the sports car says goodbye to [...]
It’s no secret that the automotive industry moves fast, with fierce competition in every segment. It’s normal for vehicles generations to be replaced every five or six years, bringing new technology on board and under the skin, as well as better safety technologies. Jeep introduced the current-gen Cherokee as a 2014 model at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. In early 2018, the SUV got a midcycle refresh that provided its interior and exterior with a younger vibe.
We recently spent some time in the 2020 Jeep Cherokee, and we were pleased with its roominess and the quality of materials throughout the cabin.
2020 Jeep Cherokee: Infotainment System
In the past, we’ve commended Jeep and other FCA products for their great infotainment systems. Uconnect is one of the best systems on the market, as it’s easy to use and has great graphics. It’s also fast and designed [...]
I’ve come to appreciate a few things in our long-term Mazda3 that set it apart from its main rivals, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. For starters, the optional head-up display (Active Driving Display in Mazdaspeak) is well executed, and Mazda gets bonus points for including its brightness and screen height in the programming of the Driving Position Memory buttons (another rare feature in the segment).
The display is fairly sharp and includes a comprehensive list of info, including vehicle speed, active cruise control settings, cross-traffic alerts, and lane keep assist warnings. I’m also a fan of the blind-spot indicators, which flash on the left or right side of the screen. One downside? Head-up displays are notorious for “disappearing” when you’re wearing polarized sunglasses, and unfortunately the Mazda’s screen does appear dimmer through the lenses of my Ray-Bans.
I don’t really know the process manufacturers follow to name a car, but I’m sure the approval protocol involves a long list of people. CEOs, CMOs, product planners—all have some kind of input in creating the name of a new model. And some carmakers have come up with brilliant names over the years that have helped shape the automotive industry. From menacing names like Huracán to cute names like Beetle, there are many interesting car names in the U.S. and around the world. Here’s a list with 15 cool car names, plus three of the best car names we can find south of the border.
Lamborghini Diablo
Built between 1990 and 2001, the Lamborghini Diablo tops this list. Its brilliant name means “devil” in Spanish, and with such an intimidating look and a V-12 engine in the back, there’s no denying this is a beast any way you [...]
