The Detroit auto show is moving from January to summer starting this year, but over in Chicago, the Windy City’s show remains in its traditional February slot. The Chicago show, as is typical, was full of new truck and SUV debuts this year—but there were some interesting cars in display, too, including Hyundai’s super-efficient new Sonata hybrid. Facelifts, new special edition packages, new trims, more power, and completely new vehicles dotted the floor of McCormick Place—among our faves are the lusty Ford GT Liquid Carbon and the beastly Jeep Gladiator Mojave. Scroll on to see all the notable debuts, and hit the read more links for our full coverage of each vehicle.

While this year will see the launch of more all-electric powered commuter cars than ever before, that doesn’t mean exotic cars designed to draw eyes and drop jaws are going away anytime soon. In fact, it seems like there are now more than ever before. Not to mention that just a short few years ago a list like this would have looked a lot different. Now there are a number of exotics featuring hybrid and EV powertrains as well as several more super SUVs.

This list of 10 exotic cars we’re excited about in 2020 exemplifies how quickly the world is changing, with a hybrid Ferrari, an all-electric Porsche, and a first ever Aston Martin SUV making the cut. And though big bucks, low volume supercars are fun and all, we decided to keep the exotics on this list to cars with more of a true production run, hence, the likes of the McLaren Elva [...]

San Francisco–based artist Jay Nelson answered a question seemingly no one was asking by adding a pop-top camper to the bed of a 1982 Subaru Brat. The small camper integrates gracefully with the compact pickups flowing bedsides and includes sleeping space for three, as well as a built-in wood-burning stove for cooking or staying warm. Admittedly, we question the logic of putting a wood-burning stove in a camper made from western red cedar, but the thing hasn’t combusted yet.

While the camper’s living quarters are rather small, its pop-up top affords an extra sense of space and offers a bed with room for two (the living space offers an additional area for a third person to get some shuteye). Retired sailboat sails were cut and sewn to make the tent sides of the pop-top roof, which also includes a zip-up entry at its rear and porthole windows on its sides. The roof itself, meanwhile, [...]

The Chicago Auto Show might not rise to the same dazzling prominence on the annual auto-show calendar as, say, the events held in Geneva or Los Angeles, but it’s a critical display of fresh sheetmetal nonetheless. That’s because during the show’s two-week run this February, a huge number of people—millions—will visit McCormick Place on the south end of downtown Chicago to take in the new cars, trucks, and SUVs on offer. So, while the number of big new-car debuts, premieres, and reveals in Chicago might be small compared to flashier shows, automakers don’t ignore the show entirely. This year saw a number of new or updated pragmatic vehicles perfect for the Midwest, including Chrysler’s 2021 Pacifica minivan and a new sporty version of the Toyota Highlander three-row crossover. Below, though, find the MotorTrend staff’s curated pics for the best vehicles at the show:

Two months after first catching wind of Jaguar’s heavy refresh of its 2021 F-Type sports car, we finally know how much all that newness is going to cost. And good news! In spite of the significant changes, the F-Type’s base price hasn’t gone up a single penny over last year’s model. You will once again pay at least $62,625 to get into an F-type, although you will pay slightly more for higher trims than before.

Sitting at the bottom of the lineup is the F-Type P300, which is powered by a 296-hp turbo four-cylinder and holds the distinction of being the only 2021 F-Type you can buy with rear-wheel drive. In droptop form, the P300 costs $3,100 more. Next up is the R-Dynamic P380, which comes with a 380-hp supercharged V-6 engine and standard all-wheel drive. Pricing starts at $82,825, with the convertible version again costing $3,100 more. The insane F-Type R is still available, [...]
